Quarry Bay Quarryside | HKAF Youth Friends: Theatre Adaptation Creative Day Camp
Description
2025/26 Youth Friends Summer Activity Theatre Adaptation Creative Day Camp is now open for enrollment!
Is reading the only way to appreciate literature?
is the theatre the only space for performance?
When literature meets the stage, the subtle nuances between the lines can be transformed into tangible imagery through stage language, sparking a public dialogue that transcends time and space. In this regard, should classic literature adaptations adhere strictly to the original work, or should they break free from traditional narrative structures and incorporate new elements to resonate with modern audiences?
This summer, Youth Friends will be hosting a four-day 'Theatre Adaptation Creative Day Camp', bringing together young people interested in performing arts to explore the limitless possibilities of literature and theatre. Participants will draw inspiration from world classics and local literature, and under the guidance of mentors through group readings and professional advice, they will adapt literary works, turning their imaginative ideas into concrete theatre proposals, culminating in a final presentation on the last day.
The creative day camp proudly invites renowned local performing arts creators as speakers and mentors, including veteran director and screenwriter Raymond Chow and Lee Chi-tat, cross-media creative performer Leung Hau-wan, and the immersive experience creative team 'Wanderers Theatre'. They will guide participants to dissect the relationship between literature, theatre space, and the audience, teaching them how to balance the spirit of the original work with contemporary innovation. Participants will also embark on a journey of urban exploration, conducting on-site investigations and experimenting with various narrative possibilities in non-traditional theatre spaces.
We sincerely invite you to join the 'Theatre Adaptation Creative Day Camp' and continue the power of writing on the stage!
